There's absolutely nothing wrong with the classics
(cookies, brownies, and other baked goodies),
but in case you're looking for novelty as well as the tried-and-true,
here are some suggestions from my students in New York.
Feel free to peruse, mark your favorites,
and forward to your parents as a "gentle hint"!
- Cashews (or any favorite nutty snack)
- Frozen spinach pies
- A jar of my favorite pasta sauce
- Two boxes of bread sticks
- M&M's
- A card from my mother
- $100
- A pack of new highlighters, because I'm too cheap to replace my old dried-up ones
- A week's supply of frozen, homemade dinners that I could conveniently microwave
- A picture of my cat
- A box full of food from home - like bagels or decent pizza. Preferably a BIG box.
- Hot chocolate packets and a whole bag of marshmallows
- A tin containing a lean cut of London broil
- Edamame beans
- Spiritual enlightenment in a jar
- Thick roll of unmarked 100s (Good luck.)
