BEFORE I GRADUATED, I immersed myself in a lot of cultures.
I went on a trip with my campus church to Japan,
I became a conversation partner with a student from Thailand,
and I got lucky to get a Greek roommate.
I learned so much about their food, beliefs, family,
and dance that I feel as if I’ve been adopted.

MAKING LISTS ALWAYS WORKS FOR ME, especially lists of my goals.
I took a media law class and wrote down on a piece of paper that I wanted to get an A.
I posted the paper in my dorm room and carried it around with me as a reminder.
I ended up getting an A in the class and actually never did better on a presentation
than I did in that class.
It might sound weird, but sometimes I think that writing things down is half the battle.

Book it. Time to buy a 2008 planner! Type up your New Year's resolutions,
put them in a tiny font, print them out and glue them on the inside cover.
As the ancient Babylonians used to say, "Out of sight, out of mind - in the planner, definitely going to happen."
