I want to look weight and gain muscle- do I still need to keep my carbs low if I work out often?

In my opinion, it all depends on how much weight you want to lose. If your weight is steady and you just want to gain muscle than eating complex carbs like whole wheat bread and sweet potato will help this along. Of course eating too much of anything isn't healthy-so either way keep it to max 4-6 servings a day.
