Using Craigslist to find Apartments

How reliable have people found Craigslist for finding apartments in the short term (over summer, for instance?)

RE: Using Craigslist to find Apartments
Usually craigslist is ok for finding short term jobs and things like that, but I have heard a lot of stories about apartment rentals and other scams that people have gotten themselves into from craigslist. If you do find something be very careful and check it from more than one angle before signing or giving any money.

RE: Using Craigslist to find Apartments
I think people who post on craigslist, for example, people who are looking for another roommate are usually pretty normal. I know many people who have posted on there and who have found roommates through the site. I think it is a shame that more sites like this dont exist.

RE: Using Craigslist to find Apartments
I haven't apartment shopped there, but I have looked for work and found some incredibly flakey and questionable ads. when I followed up, the person that I spoke with was evasive, unfocused and slightly bizarre. I've heard or read a number of negative things about Craig's List recently--none about apartments. I would still use it as a resource, but you have to keep your guard up--just like you would with any other source--and do your research. I don't believe there are safeguards on Craig's List, so it's really at your own risk--or reward.
