If you have actually tapped out all of your resources-newspaper, networking, internet, putting up signs, and taken at least a few months and are still at square one than hiring a real estate agent is definitey worth it. Check out a few places before you close the deal with anyone though because they can fool you sometimes. Maybe ask around for some recommendations as well.

It was worth it for me. Since I'm a CPA, this time of year gets pretty hectic for me, and I didn't want to be stressed out with all the details. I just looked at houses, my real estate agent did all the tedious lifting...and boom! Buying my first house was real easy.
