In the busy life of a teen, what's the best way to get them to sit down regularly and think about college admissions?

Sundays are our days to catch up and get ready for the coming week. We spend the late afternoons and early evenings eating dinner, doing homework, talking over the dining room table ... My wife and I have used this time to talk to our daughters about college, fill out applications, work on essays, plan for the SAT. Every other day of the week, something seems to be going on. We reserve Sundays for this, and I think our daughters actually look forward to it.

I think you would have had to started talking to them about the whole idea of college by the time they were 16 or so. This way it isnt a shock when you first mention it again during junior year, which is the crucial year. Never put too much pressure on the child, but whenever you are walking around the mall together make sure to make a stop at the bookstore or to talk to your child about what interests them while at the same time suggesting some schools that may be suitable to this field. Always let them know that you are there for them and that you will always help.
