Roommate trouble

What's a good way to tell your roommate to clean up their mess and keep quiet at night?

Suggest a weekly meeting where you both sit down for 20 minutes and talk about things that might be bothering you, schedules for the week. And stick to it! It might be uncomfortable at first, but you'll get used to it and deal with any issues that way.

RE: Roommate trouble

A weekly meeting is a good idea. You also might 'lead by example.' If you keep tidy and make a conspicuous effort to take your roommate's sleep into account ('I'll turn off my music so it doesn't bother you,' etc.), and if your roommate is sensitive at all, he or she will probably catch on that these things are important to you.

RE: Roommate trouble

How about something so out of the ordinary that he/she realy gets that you are serious? How about a hallmark card?

RE: Roommate trouble

How about going up to her and saying it straight out. It really is refreshing to be honest. There is no need to say it with an attitude, but asking her to please clean up her stuff can go a long way- no need for fancy meetings or cards.
