Want to fit in and find your way around, without looking like the typical freshman? Follow these tried and true tips.

  • Arrive on campus early to learn the layout of the campus before classes start.
  • Freshmen tend to travel in packs; if you don't want to be labeled a frosh by others, try to walk with just one or two other people.
  • The first few days can be overwhelming, but the adjustment comes quickly. Call your family and old friends to feel grounded. But don't call them too much!
  • Be outgoing; meet as many people as you can those first few weeks of school.
  • Make friends with a few upperclassmen. They'll help you transition, give you tips, and generally make your life a little easier.
