It might be more of a problem than in high school. Often, professors or grad student assisstants will offer to help you with projects ahead of time. Make meetings with them long before things are do to force you to accomplish at least something before the very last minute.

I think procrastination is extremely common in all areas of life. It is never a positive attribute to add to your resume and in college it can certainly be a problem if you are not on top of it. But some people fortunately do work well under the pressure and although suffer from pulling all nighters every time something is due they get it done and get it done well. If you are not this kind of person then you need to make sure your professors are giving you enough time in advance to work on your papers-and I wouldnt suggest requesting extensions, it will only make the problem worse.
