I think "The Catcher in the Rye" is a great book to read before college, gives a bit of perspective.

I do not know if you will think it has any truth to it, but the book-"I am Charlotte Simmons" is an exaggerated yet interesting look at what college life is like from a great author.

"Lord of the Flies" is a book that if you didn't read in high school do so before college. It makes you think a lot about society, social relationships, and how to analyze discreet symbolism in literature. There are also several popular media references to the book, such as in The Simpsons so you will just feel better knowing what they are talking about.
