Girlfriend

My girlfriend and I are trying to decide whether we should break up before college or not. Any advice?

It depends. How much do you care about each other / how important is it to you both to stay entirely faithful? These are questions only you can answer, so don't take them lightly. I think it's possible, but not very easy.

RE: Girlfriend
When I graduated from high school, my boyfriend and I stayed together. He was going into his sophomore year in college and I was headed to college out of state. It did not work out, and we ended up breaking up about five months afterwards. This is not to say that it won't work for you. But, if you are both going to college in seperate states, it's going to be tough to make it work and to stay together--especially if you don't get to see each other that often.

There is something called thanksgiving breakup: many couples who stay together after high school decide to take time off around this time of year. You could try and see how it goes for you, but freshman year (single) is not something you will want to miss.

I agree. Having a significant other during the first semester can be very limiting. You will want to spend time with them over the phone or on skype, instead of making new friends. My advice would be to decide together to take the year apart, to explore your new surroundings. If you decide at the end of the year that you still want to be together right now, then do it. If it's meant to be, it will.

RE: Girlfriend
Listen, you DO NOT want to stay with your girlfriend unless she looks like Jessica Alba. Otherwise, the best chance you have to stay with him or her anyways is to breakup and remain good friends and maybe later in college or after college you can pick back up. Freshman year is too much. Give yourself the chance to live a little, get new experiences, and then you'll be better prepared to decide what to do.

RE: Girlfriend
I think that you should test it out - the worst thing that happens is that you break-up. there will always be time to get laid and go crazy in college!
