How much say do I have in my child's decisions after college?

My daughter has made the choice of living abroad. Can I do something to stop her or should I let her live her life as she pleases?

RE: How much say do I have in my child's decisions after college?
We raise our children to be their own people and if not then we are not doing the right thing. Unfortunately some decisions that they make are very painful and if you truly think this is not a good idea then of course try and talk to her and tell her your thoughts, but attempting to stop them or threaten them will only create more problems. Support her and tell her that if you cant be close then you can still write emails and talk on the phone all the time to feel that you are still a large part of her life.

RE: How much say do I have in my child's decisions after college?
Although my daughter is still young, I think that it would be extremely hard to take if she left the country. I imagine, however, that I wouldn't try to stop her because she's an adult and she has a right to make those decisions. The fact that your child is apparently comfortable going far from home can be seen as the sign of a strong, confident, adventurous person, and you can likely take some credit for that. There's nothing saying that she won't move back to the states eventually, especially if you support her decision.
Ideally, her relocation can be enriching for both of you. You can visit her in her world, and she'll come to visit you and bring great stories of life elsewhere.
My thoughts are with you!
