This is a sticky situation and I think you should try and set your sights on someone new for the time being. If she went out with him for a while it means they had something special and it means that it will be hard for her once she actually sees you two together, as opposed to beforehand when she is only saying it is fine to be a good friend. If in the future you still think there is something between the two of you, then by all means-but i think it is too soon.
