Will age be a factor? Are schools usually willing to take teachers who are not fresh out of high school and college?
Thinking of making a career change and going back to school for teaching-would love some advice.

For one it is illegal in the US not to hire someone because of their age-age discrimination. Secondly, there are many people in the world who change careers, especially to go into teaching, and end up having a wonderful experience. I say go for it. Try and go to night school and work as an assistant in the school beforehand to get a feel for how everything works.

Speaking from experience there are many people in my school who are not fresh out of college for one reason or another. I also know that my father switched careers decenty late in life and has excelled in his new career even becoming employee of the year in his new office. It is absolutely never too late and I think the people who decide to be teachers later in life tend to be very passionate about it and it shows. Kids catch onto these things.
