Will I look back if I recommend a job to my friend and he/she does not live up to the expectations?

How smart is it to tell your boss about a friend who wants a job?

I think that if it is a part time job during school or just something to pass the time it is ok to bring your friend in for an interview. I think when we are talking about your career you have to either know this friend very well or tell he boss beforehand that he is a good friend, but that there is no way you can ensure his success or that he is a good worker. In general though it is a nice way to help out a friend.

Before doing anything you need to have a talk with your friend explaining everything about the job and making sure that that is really what they want and how they are willing to work so they dont coem across any big surprises.

If you do not know the background of this friend in their other job positions than you could be taking a big risk. If you value your job it might be best to keep friends and work separate.
