I work with some crazy people. I don't know how long I'm going to last - it's either them or me. Anybody have experience with bad co-workers?

As hard as it may be, try to keep your cool with your crazy co-workers. The worst thing you can do is snap at them or give them any sort of reaction. For the really crazy ones--a reaction really eggs them on.

I've dealt with the sniffer, the monotone guy and the bully. I reported the sniffer to HR. I waited a year and a half to do this because I thought I was just being paranoid and anal. Unfortunately, the sniffing got so loud and so frequent that it really started to interfere with my work. HR talked with him and he hardly sniffs anymore. With monotone guy, I just try not to talk to him as much as possible. He's a nice guy, just really boring. The bully was the guy that went crazy on me. He yelled at me in front of everyone, he introduced me as, "This is J, but I call her Miss J because I doubt she'll ever get married and she'll be 90 years old surrounded by a bunch of cats." He almost punched me one time. He constantly commented on my boobs. I tried to deal with him but it was an extremely difficult situation. I tried to report him, but due to the company being so small, I didn't get anywhere. So I left. If you can avoid the people that annoy you, do it. If you can stand up to the bully, whether it's reporting them or standing your ground, do it. Your integrity does not need to be compromised, no matter what your position is.

I had a co-worker in the cubicle next to me that liked to hum. Hum hum hum, all day long! How do you report humming? It's the habit of a happy person - if you report him, you're the guy who doesn't like happy people!

Tell him to hum something you like!

I feel sort of alone at work. Not part of any group. Any tips on how to get in good with co-workers?

Cook lunch for a few of the co-workers that sit near you. This is a great way to get people to open up to you.

Bring good food to work to share with everyone. I brought in a chocolate cake and they were in heaven. Also, sometimes not being too close to people at work isnt always a bad thing. They stay out of your business and you stay out of theirs.

Go for the office coffee runs as much as you can. Take orders for your office mates; they’ll love you for it, and it’ll help pass the time. You can even intentionally forget the sugar so you’ll have to go back ... especially for your moody boss who really needs a boost!

I have found that wearing sombreros or cowboy hats to work promotes stimulation conversation with co-workers. If you can't do that, just ask somebody if they watch "The Office," then let them recite their favorite parts for you. You'll be friends for life!
