Advice on writing the best resume.
Here's some advice on making your resume from the book, "How to Survive Your First Job (or Any Job)" (Hundreds of Heads Books, www.hundredsofheads.com, $14.95), straight from people who've done it:
"One of my editors actually got a resume that listed `fugitive' as relevant experience. That's probably not going to be a selling point, especially if you're applying for a job where you'll have to work in a cubicle."
Patricia Drey, Saint Paul, Minn.

"Don't include things that have no bearing on the position you are going after. When I apply for jobs in radio, it makes no sense to say I used to sell shoes at Champs. Saying that I loaded trucks for Coca-Cola one summer doesn't make me a better radio personality, either."
John Focke, Marquette, Mich.

"My one and only internship experience was spending a summer in Washington, D.C., working for a senator. The internship itself was fine, but the bad part was listing it on my resume later. The senator I worked for was only a one-term senator, and I do believe I did not get a job I applied for later because the person interviewing me disliked that senator."
Grainne Mahoney, Springfield, Ill.

"Don't include jobs you've been fired from."
Steve Laumakis, St. Paul, Minn.
