How is the job market/salary for non profit/ngo work?

Thinking of finishing school early and starting to work. Wondering how the jog market is in terms of non profit organizations?

RE: How is the job market/salary for non profit/ngo work?
The job market in general isn't wonderful, but I think there are decent jobs out there for non profit work. There is a website called idealist.org-which I know has non profit job listings for New York and possibly for other cities I am not sure. But everyday they add at least 10 new jobs which leads me to believe that there is hope out there. Of course they appreciate someone with a degree, but they also are known to look for people who have done a lot of volunteer work or other types of experiences that involve initiation with making a change in some way. Sometimes you may even have to volunteer first, which sounds like a drag, but if you make a good impression it should turn into a job position in less than a year.

RE: How is the job market/salary for non profit/ngo work?
The job market is out there-it is just a matter of time. Finding a non profit job is a lot tougher than finding a business type position, but I think in the end it pays off more-just not in terms of salary. I say try a program first before rushing off to work while you are still so young. There are tons of opportunities to help people around the country or around the world-habitat for humanity, peace corps, going to work in orphanages in asia- look it up, all of its been done.
