Fancy packages
I know some people who send their resumes and cover letters in fancy, creative packages to get attention from the recruiter. Does this work? Or does this seem cheesy?

I think if you're young, it can't hurt. Anything to stand out from the crowd. It can only hurt, that is, if you are not creative and the "fancy" package you send is just stupid. Best bet, if you send something like this, is to show it to friends and family first and take their honest feedback ...

I think the only reason to do this is if you are going for a job in a creative field such as graphic design or advertising. Going for a job in the field of law or human resources for example is not going to make you necessarily stand out in a positive way. Focus on the content of your cover letter and resume, not the packaging.
