One of my editors actually got a resume that listed "fugitive" as relevant experience. That's probably not going to be a selling point, especially if you're applying for a job where you have to work in a cubicle.

RE: Resume don'ts
Leave your high school accomplishments off of your resume, when you're applying for a job post-college.

One thing you never want to put on a resume: Things that have no bearing on the position you are going after. When I apply for jobs in radio and say I used to sell shoes at Champs Supersports, it makes no sense. Or if I were to say that I loaded trucks for Coca-Cola one summer, they’re happy for you but it doesn’t make you a better radio personality.

Keep it Straight
Don't lie or exaggerate on your resume. As an employer, I use the resume to cross-check verbal answers given to me in the interview from possible hires. If I see answers that contradict themselves, it’s a red flag that I bring up in the second interview.

RE: Resume don'ts
Don't put down weird, unrelated hobbies like collecting paper clips and knitting toilet paper covers (unless you're applying to the National Lampoon magazine!)

Don't even use the word "Hobbies"--it's weak. "Interests" sounds more grounded, and only include them if they somehow relate to what you're applying for. Example: if you want to sell skiing equipment or applying for any job that has to do with winter sports, it's relevant to say you are an avid skiier.

RE: Resume don'ts
I wanted to add that Mercy's answer above is good advice. I once applied to a blind ad. My letter was very honest. Good thing because when I got a call from the employer it turned out to be someone I knew from a former job!!!!
