I discovered an endless supply of boxes at the local recycling center. I just borrow the boxes and return them after I move.

Get a variety of Ziploc baggies and a Sharpie marker. Whenever you take apart a piece of furniture, put all of the nuts and bolts into one baggie and label it clearly. This prevents important pieces from getting lost.

For each room, put the essentials that you'll need for the first three days in one box. If it's for the kitchen, label it "Kitchen, Immediately." Everything else that belongs on the kitchen but isn't critical, put in "Kitchen, Storage."
