Can I get around not buying those big text books that all intro classes make you buy?

What to do about those expensive text books some classes make you buy-that only collect dust after and are so poorly written?

You can maybe buy one between you and a friend so that it is less expensive or ask someone who did buy it to photocopy the pages, although that could take forever. The professor should leave a copy in the library as a reference book-so look into this option before spending any money.
