Semester or Year Abroad?

What do you think about the benefits and downsides about Junior Year abroad and, in the alternative, just taking a semester abroad? thanks.

RE: Semester or Year Abroad?
I firmly believe that studying abroad for a year is the best thing. If you get homesick you can always go home over the break. I say this though because once you really start to get settled in after a semester you have to leave. The year really allows you to travel, meet tons of people, and get a good feel for the country.

RE: Semester or Year Abroad?
If you have apprehensions about studying abroad for a year than I say study abroad for a semester and if you love the place and are not feeling homesick ask to extend. Or if you want to explore a new place you can always decide to apply to another study abroad program in another country. There are a plethora of programs out there, do not limit yourself to just what your university offers.
