Retake

I got a fairly high score the first time I took the SAT. Do you suggest I take it again or would it be a waste of my time?

I only took the SATs once. My score the first time was in the range of schools I was applying to and I was happy with my score. Compare your scores with the schools you want to apply to and make your decision.

If you get a 2300 or better on your SAT, don’t retake it. When you look at you report, you get your actual score and then you get a range of how you would score if you took the test multiple times. I got a 780 on the math and my range was something like 750 to 800. To me this means that colleges understand and realize that scores in a certain range mean the same thing.

RE: Retake
If you are happy with the score on all three sections, and they match what your reach schools are looking for, don't retake it. However, if one section is a little lacking, it might make all the difference just having an extra 30 points or so.
