So many options. Figuring out how to chose the right one is a test unto itself!

CONSIDER YOUR LEARNING STYLE.

Are you comfortable learning in a large group setting, where you can take notes and absorb strategies but not interact much with the instructor? Do you do better studying in small groups? Would you prefer to work one-on-one with a private tutor?

DO YOUR RESEARCH.

There’s no advanced degree or certification required to be an SAT instructor. That’s why instructors run the gamut, from established professionals who aced the SAT to jokers without any real SAT knowledge. So before you choose a teacher or tutor, find out a little background, including years of experience and what he or she scored on the actual exam. Also, don’t assume that a big company will have the best people—the biggest firms often pay their instructors the least and hire people who look and sound good but may not have done as well on the SAT.

FIND AN OPTION THAT FITS YOUR ABILITY LEVEL.

Classes usually work best when everyone is at roughly the same level. If you’re way ahead of or behind the rest of the pack, you may want to consider a course designed for someone at your level or hire a private one-on-one tutor.
